Hollywood Casino was reopened in June of 2009, replacing the famed Indiana Argosy Casino & Hotel. It is the same establishment, under the same ownership, just with a new name. Hollywood Casino is the newest Indiana Casino, the brand new $335 million Lawrenceburg casino, is set to replace the Argosy Casino.
The Hollywood Casino’s grand opening was pure show business. There were singers, dancers and an Elvis impersonator to greet the crowd.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see people in here for the first time,” said general manager Tony Rodio in a recent news report, of the project that took five years to plan and complete. “I’m excited and relieved all at the same time.”
Hollywood Casino can accommodate nearly 9,000 casino guests that’s more 5,000 more than Argosy could. This is a big casino, in fact, Indiana Casino fans will find more than 150,000 square feet of casino gaming space now, with another 25,000 square feet for later expansion. The newest Indiana casino consists of two decks, each said to be wider than an aircraft carrier, and just about as long as a football field.
